A road marking machine is an equipment used to apply paint to roads, streets, and other paved surfaces to increase road safety. In these, the thermoplastic paint is deposited in a malleable shape and temperature and then, through mechanical means, poured with the implementation of manual dies into the substrate to be demarcated with the help of an operator.

These machines are implemented to create traffic lines that separate lanes from roads, symbols such as arrows, pedestrian crossings, stops and crossings, and other road signage elements such as parking areas, bike lanes and loading areas for example.

Painting road marking machines can be classified into two main types:

  • Manual road marking machines: manually operated by an operator who walks behind the machine and controls its trajectory and amount of paint to be implemented
  • Motorized road marking machines: these machines are mounted on a self-propelled vehicle that pushes the manual machine making the task more effective, accurate, and fast
